Looking across the web one can find some sites
with information about some medals and
badges, but there is not a lot of places with
detailed information. Wikipedia has some good
articles on the various orders, and the Japanese
versions tend to have a bit more information than
the English ones. Combined they make for good
reading.

I have not included sites that have Japanese
medals for sale but contain no information about
medals.

This official site has links to the different orders and has clear (though small) pictures of the new,
non-numbered classes. If you are interested in the post-2003 versions, this is an important site to visit.
The Japanese site also has some lists of
recipients and various information about the different orders.
