Here is a 7th Class Order of the
Golden Kite lacquered wood case.
I believe it is a Meiji-era case.
The gold gilt inscription is written
in classical-style kanji and is fairly
difficult to read.
'7th Class Golden Kite badge.'
The first three indicate the class
(Number 7 Class), the next two
the Order, and the last reads
'badge' or medal of course.
The latch is similar to that on
cases for other orders. It is
shaped like a traditional
Japanese shield (inverted) and
has a pebbled background.
Here is a 5th Class Order of the Golden Kite lacquered wood case. I believe this, too, is a Meiji-era case.
The gold gilt inscription is written in classical-style kanji and is fairly difficult to read.
'5th Class Golden Kite badge.' The first three indicate the class (Number 5 Class), the next two the Order,
and the last reads 'badge' or medal of course.
